Club Records

Club Records keeps your club's best scores: who holds each record, who held it before, and any score shot at one of your events that beats it. Records are kept per division and per course of fire, and they appear on your club's public page once you enter them.

What a Record Is

A record is one category with one current holder. The category is made of four things:

PartExample
Distance900
UnitYards or Meters
Shots10, 15
DivisionF-TR, F-Open, Target Rifle

900 yards and 900 metres are different records, as are 10 shots and 15 shots. There is only one record per combination; creating a second one is refused, with a prompt to edit or break the existing record instead.

The score is entered as points and centres, for example 74.8 or 150.12. Points are compared first, then centres, so 150.12 beats 150.9.

Each record also keeps the holder's name, the date and the place. The holder can be linked to an athlete profile on Target Score, or typed in for a historic holder who has none.

Where to Find It

Go to Manage Club > Records. Only owners and managers of the club can add or change records; a club needs at least one division before its first record can be created.

Create a Record

  1. Click Create Record.
  2. Choose the Distance, Unit, Shots and Division.
  3. Enter the Record Score.
  4. Search for the Athlete by name, or type a new name if they are not on Target Score.
  5. Enter the Date (it cannot be in the future) and the Place.
  6. Click Create.

Edit, Break, Print or Delete a Record

Every row has action icons; the same actions are available from View Details.

  • Modify Record (pencil) corrects the current holder: name, score, date and place. The distance, unit, shots and division cannot be changed, because they identify the record. Use this to fix a typo; no score check is applied.
  • Break Record (trophy) enters a new holder. The new score must equal or beat the current record; a tie is accepted here. The previous holder moves to Past Holders.
  • Print Certificate (printer) generates a certificate for the current holder.
  • Delete (bin) removes the record together with its past holders. This cannot be undone.

View Details (eye) shows the full record and the list of past holders. A past holder can be removed from the history with the bin icon next to their name.

Automatic Detection on the Results Page

When an owner or manager of the club opens one of the club's results pages, Target Score checks every score against the club's records. A score that beats a record is filed as an unverified record, a pending claim that you decide on.

A score is only filed when all of these hold:

  • it is strictly higher than the current record. A tie is shown on the results page but is never filed; only a manager can record a tie, with Break Record;
  • the match is an individual, scoring match. Team matches and warm-ups are skipped;
  • the entry is active. Withdrawn, cancelled or rejected entries are skipped;
  • the score is not zero;
  • the entry has a division, and the match has a distance, a shot count and a range with a unit, so the category can be worked out without guessing;
  • the club already keeps a record for that category. Detection never creates a new category; most clubs keep their history offline, so "nothing on file" does not mean "first ever score".

If several shooters beat the same record at one event, only the best score is filed. A pending claim never changes the record: the public page keeps showing the verified holder until you approve.

On the results page, a score that beats a record is badged New Club Record! with the margin in points, and a score that equals one is badged Tied Club Record!. Everyone sees the badge; hovering it shows the current and past holders, with a link to the full record.

Review Unverified Records

Target Score does not send an email when a claim is filed; you review claims on Manage Club > Records. Pending claims are listed at the top under Unverified Records, with the event they were shot at and a Pending Verification tag. View Details shows the claim next to the record it would replace.

  • Approve makes the shooter the current holder. The previous holder moves to Past Holders, and the record's date and place are taken from the event.
  • Reject turns the claim down. The current holder is untouched, and that score is not flagged again on the results page or filed again.

If the record was edited or broken after the claim was filed and the claim no longer beats it, approving is refused and the list is refreshed.

What the Public Sees

Your club's public page lists every record with its division, score, shots and distance, the holder, the date and the place, followed by a Last Updated on date. Pending claims are never shown; a score is only public once you approve it. The site-wide Records page at /records is not available yet.
