Classifications & Categories
Each club keeps its own lists of the labels that describe an event and its entrants: disciplines, divisions, classifications, age categories, participant categories and ranges. You set them up once for the club, and every event you create offers them to entrants, uses them in results and prize lists, and colours the calendar with them.
This page covers the Classifications & Categories page, where the entrant-facing lists live, and points to where the other attributes are managed.
Where to Find It
Click Club in the top bar to open your club dashboard, then Classifications & Categories in the Settings group. The page has three sections; each has an Add button, and every row has a pencil icon to edit and a cross icon to delete.
The Lists
| Attribute | Where it is used | Fields |
|---|---|---|
| Age Categories | Offered to entrants on the entry form when the Age Category field is enabled, and available as awards in the Combined Results sheet | Label (for example Junior), a short Key that is suggested from the label and stored with the entry (J, U21), and an Order |
| Classifications | Skill tiers such as Master or Expert, shown on the entry form when the Classification field is enabled, then on scorecards, results and the awards sheet | Name and Order |
| Participant Categories | Groupings such as Senior, Military or Club Member, shown as tick boxes on the entry form when the Categories field is enabled, and used for prizes and awards | Name and an optional Description |
Names must be unique within the club. The Order number controls the sequence on the entry form; lower numbers come first.
Classifications can also be managed from Manage Club > Club Classifications (see Club Classifications), and participant categories from Manage Event > Categories. They are the same club-wide lists; both pages edit the same items.
Deleting an item removes it from the lists offered on your entry forms. If entrants have already used it, create a new one instead of deleting it.
Disciplines and Divisions
Disciplines and divisions are managed on Manage Club > Club Divisions.
Disciplines are the kinds of shooting your club runs, for example F-Class, Target Rifle or Smallbore. Each has a name, a Scoring System (Bullseye V5, X10 or XV5) and a colour. Once a club has at least one discipline, the event form asks for the event's discipline, the club calendar can be filtered by discipline, and the calendar and the WordPress plugin colour each event with its discipline's colour. Deleting a discipline also deletes the divisions linked to it, so unlink them first; if one of those divisions still holds club records, the delete is refused.
Divisions are the equipment classes entrants compete in, such as F-TR, F-Open or Target Rifle. A division can be given a Parent Discipline when you add or edit it. The link is shown next to the division on the list; the event form still offers every club division, so use it to keep your list organised. A division that still holds club records cannot be deleted: the page tells you to delete those records, or re-create them under another division, first.
See Club Divisions for the step-by-step.
Ranges
Ranges are managed on Manage Club > Manage Your Clubs, in the Ranges section of the club card. A range has a name, a unit (yards or metres), its distances and a location. Matches are assigned to a range, which is how a match knows its unit; a club record can only be detected on a match that is on a range.
Choosing What an Event Offers
The club lists are the full menu. When you create or edit an event, the form shows your Divisions, Categories and Payment Gateways as tick boxes: untick the ones that do not apply to that event and entrants will not see them. Everything ticked stays available club-wide for other events, and the Prize List for the event only lists the divisions you kept.
