Squadding
Overview
Target Score's squadding system is designed to provide a logical and efficient way to pair participants for shooting events. Unlike random squadding, it incorporates intelligent rules to enhance the experience. For example:
- Avoid pairing the same shooters together repeatedly, if possible.
- Separate divisions onto different relays.
- Assign left-handed shooters to the right side.
- Rotate shooters across the range as the day progresses.
Note: This squadding system is optimized for Pair Firing style shooting. If it does not meet your requirements, please contact us to share your needs so we can improve the system.
Getting Started with Squadding
To create a squadding, navigate to Manage Event and select Squadding. Follow these steps:
Step 1: Configure Settings
- Enter Range Details:
- Total Targets: Specify the total number of targets at the range.
- Targets in Use: Indicate how many targets will be actively used (e.g., reserve one or two for backups).
- Starting Target Number: Override the starting target number if some targets are unavailable. For example, if targets 1–3 are out of order, set this to 4.
Based on these inputs, Target Score calculates the number of relays required per match. By default, it assigns up to 3 shooters per target to minimize relays. Adjust this number (e.g., to 2 shooters per target) to update the relay count.
- Relay Grouping Options:
- Choose the type of relay grouping you prefer. Each option includes a description to guide your selection.
- Shooter Movement:
- Specify how far shooters should move across the range between matches.
- Handedness:
- Decide whether to assign left-handed shooters to the right side or ignore handedness during squadding.
- Save Settings:
- Once all options are configured, click Save Settings.
Important: Settings cannot be edited after squadding is generated unless all existing squaddings are deleted. This ensures consistency, as each squadding depends on the previous ones.
Step 2: Assign Targets and Divisions
- Drag and drop targets and division combinations as needed.
- Click Save Target Assignment when finished.
Step 3: Generate and Manage Squadding
- Target Score generates one match at a time. If any issues are detected, you will be redirected to a page where you can manually adjust the squadding using drag-and-drop functionality. Save your changes when done.
- If no issues are found, a list of options will be displayed for managing the squadding.
Squadding Management Options
- Delete: Remove the squadding.
- Clone Squadding: Duplicate the squadding for the next match.
- View & Adjust: Open the drag-and-drop interface to modify the squadding. Save changes when done.
- Export for Shot Marker: Export a Shot Marker file for the current match.
- Print: Print stickers for the match.
- Export CSV: Download the squadding as a CSV file.
Additional Features
- Print Participant Sheets: Generate a sticker sheet for each participant.
- Export All for Shot Marker: Export a file containing all squaddings for import into Shot Marker.
